Answers to common questions

Short, direct answers about bollards, gates, glass garage doors, shutter doors and doors from Qasar Al Neil Automatic Doors. The questions come from calls and messages we receive from customers in Ajman: what a repair involves, how long a motor lasts, which parts wear first, how to prepare for a site visit and how quotes work. Use the search box or the topic list to find your question, then open the answer for the detail.

Each answer links to the related product, service and repair pages, and to other questions on the same topic, so you can follow a problem from the symptom to the fix. Answers describe general practice and do not replace a site visit, because the right solution depends on your equipment, your site and how often the opening is used.

If your question is not here, send it with a photo through the quote form or call us. We arrange a free site visit where one is needed and give you a written quote afterwards. Longer explanations are in the blog guides, and the services pages describe each type of equipment.

  • How much does automatic gate installation cost in Ajman compared to Dubai?

Product and motor pricing is broadly similar across Ajman, Dubai and Sharjah since the same brands and supply chains serve the whole UAE. The bigger cost variable is usually the specific site, civil works needed, gate weight and finish, rather than which emirate you are in.

Being based in Ajman, we do not add a long-distance travel premium for Ajman and Sharjah jobs, which can make our quotes more competitive for customers in those emirates compared to a Dubai-based contractor pricing in travel time. We give a written, itemized quote after a free site survey either way.

  • Do you offer payment plans or installments for larger installation projects?

For larger commercial or multi-unit projects, such as fitting out an entire compound with gates, barriers and CCTV, we can structure payment in stages tied to project milestones, typically a deposit, a payment at material delivery, and a final payment on completion and handover. This is discussed and agreed in writing before work starts.

For smaller residential jobs, standard terms usually apply with a deposit to confirm the order and balance on completion. Ask your quote contact about milestone terms if your project is large enough to need them.

  • Is the price on my quotation fixed, or can it change once work starts?

The price in our written quotation is fixed for the scope described, based on what we measured and discussed at the site survey. It only changes if the actual site conditions differ materially from what was assessed, such as discovering hidden structural issues once work begins, or if you request additional scope not in the original quote.

Any change in price is agreed with you in writing before we proceed with the extra work, never added to the final invoice as a surprise.

  • What warranty period applies to installation labour versus the equipment itself?

We provide a workmanship warranty on our installation labour, separate from the manufacturer's warranty on the motor, door panel or access control hardware itself. The manufacturer's warranty period varies by brand and product, generally 1 to 2 years, and covers defects in the equipment, while our workmanship warranty covers issues arising from the installation itself.

Both warranty periods and what they cover are stated clearly on your invoice and quotation, so there is no ambiguity later about which warranty applies to a given fault.

  • Do I need municipality or civil defence approval before installing an automatic gate in Sharjah?

Requirements depend on the property type and whether the gate installation changes the building's approved layout or fire egress route. Standalone villa gates on private property generally need less formal approval than commercial installations, boundary walls in shared or gated communities, or anything affecting a fire exit.

We flag at survey stage when we think your specific installation is likely to need municipality or civil defence sign-off, and can advise on the general process, though the approval submission itself is typically the property owner's or developer's responsibility.

  • How do I request a quotation for a project across multiple UAE emirates?

Send us the project scope, locations and approximate scale, and we can quote for multi-site projects spanning Ajman, Sharjah, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah as a consolidated package rather than separate quotes per site, which usually works out more efficient for both scheduling and pricing.

For multi-site commercial projects we typically visit at least one representative site in person and may work from drawings or photos for identical repeat installations to keep the quoting process fast.

  • Are Qasar Al Neil Automatic Doors's products approved and compliant with UAE civil defence and building standards?

Yes, the door, gate, shutter and fire-adjacent equipment we supply is sourced to meet applicable UAE civil defence and building code requirements for the product category. Where a project has a specific compliance requirement from a consultant or authority, such as a fire-rated shutter or a crash-rated bollard, we source and document the exact certified product for that requirement.

If you need compliance documentation for a permit submission, let us know at quotation stage so we can confirm the right certified product before the order is placed rather than after.

  • Does Qasar Al Neil Automatic Doors's warranty cover damage caused by misuse or accidents?

No, standard warranty terms cover manufacturing defects and workmanship issues, not damage from vehicle impact, forced operation against an obstruction, unauthorized modification, or misuse of the system outside its intended operation. A gate hit by a reversing car, for example, is a repair job outside warranty scope.

We are upfront about this at handover so there is no confusion later, and we still happily quote repair work for accidental damage, it simply falls under paid repair rather than warranty coverage.

  • What information do I need to provide to get an accurate quote without a site visit?

Photos of the existing opening or gate from a few angles, approximate width and height measurements, the brand and model if there is an existing motor or system you want repaired or replaced, and a description of what you are trying to achieve all help us give a closer estimate before a formal site visit.

For anything beyond a rough budget estimate, particularly for new installations rather than like-for-like repairs, we still recommend a free site survey before finalizing the number, since small site details often affect the final price.

  • How much does a maintenance contract cost compared to paying for repairs as needed?

A maintenance contract has a predictable annual cost covering scheduled visits and priority response, while pay-as-you-go repairs cost nothing until something breaks but tend to add up over a few years through avoidable failures that regular servicing would have caught early, plus you lose the priority response benefit during peak call volume.

For commercial sites with high daily cycle counts, a contract almost always works out cheaper over a few years than reactive repairs alone. For a lightly used residential gate, occasional paid servicing without a full contract can be a reasonable choice instead.
